Preparing Your Stone or LVT Floors for Autumn and Winter

Freshly deep-cleaned wood-effect LVT floor with a restored sheen in an Essex kitchen-diner

Autumn brings mud, grit and road salt through the door – exactly what dulls stone and LVT floors fastest over the colder months. A few things worth doing now, before the weather turns:

Deep clean before the grit sets in

Once salt and grit get ground into a sealant or grout line, it’s much harder (and pricier) to lift than if it’s cleaned off early.

Check your seal

A worn sealant lets moisture and salt soak into stone rather than sit on top of it – this is when staining happens. If your floor hasn’t been resealed in a while, autumn is the time.

Entrance matting matters more than people think

A decent mat at every external door catches most of the grit before it reaches the floor at all – the simplest way to cut down on how often you need a deep clean.

LVT and Amtico cope differently to natural stone

The wrong cleaning product on either can dull the finish rather than protect it. If in doubt, ask before you reach for a general-purpose cleaner.

As always, every job starts with a free survey and test patch – so you see the real result before committing to anything.
